Our Farm Girl Has A Court Date

Well little Christina had her first coveralls on today and I couldn't resist to take a picture. As soon as she was dressed she went and picked up a farming book. How cool is that. So here are the pictures.
Christina has court on November 21st at 10:00 AM. The court hearing is to make her a US Citizen by making her adoption complete in the eyes of the US courts and change her name from Maria Fernanda Callens to Christina Maria Callens.
Here is one of her proud sister who can't get enough of Christina. It's amazing how not having a baby in the house for 7 years makes everyone so thankful for her. oops it isn't downloading I will try tomorrow. It is soooo cute:)

Updates on Guatemalan and Christina

An amendment was submitted on October 9th to let In Process Cases to use the old adoption rules and not stop on 1-1-2008. It will be voted on on November 4th. We are so thankful for all those who signed the petition. It helped more than you know. Here is another petition to Boycott UNICEF this Halloween. When I was growing up we used to go around and collect money for UNICEF instead of trick-or-treating. They have really changed their position on a lot of things since then. Please sign this petition as your show of support for all adoptive families and their children who are waiting to come home to the US especially those in process. Boycott UNICEF This Halloween Petition Now on to our happy little girl.....Christina. She wakes up smiling until she goes to sleep. She had another virus with an ear infection but she is all better and smiling again. Now her gums are swelling becuase she is getting 4 molars and 4 eye teeth at the same time. What happened to only getting two at a time. She got six in last time she was teething. She took three steps and can stand up on her own from the floor with no assistance. She stands clapping her hands because she is so proud.
"What is so bad about outside. It looks fun Mamma, can I go?"
Here is our happy little girl.
Now that it's getting darker earlier we are able to play cards again. Here are Joe and the kids playing. Christina is trying to place, too. And Yes, we still have tomatoes yet:)
We have pigtails, but due to the men in the family. Maria and I are banned from doing it again until she has 6 more inches of hair. Shhhh...Maria and I think she looks cute.

Update on Guatemala and Christina

Update on Guatemala: We are so happy that our Sentor, Norm Coleman, is stepping up and helping adoptive familes who are in process in Guatemala. He has addressed his concerns with the Guatemalan Ambassador and others. Here is a link on what he is doing. http://coleman.senate.gov/index.cfm?FuseAction=PressReleases.Detail&PressRelease_id=1456
The Guatemalan Government meets on October 9th to vote on an Amendment to put in a "Grandfather Clause" so those in process will still be processed under the old adoption law and adoptions won't be stopped. This is a huge breakthrough if they approve it. Please pray for this to happen and those families who are in the middle of this right now.
Update on Christina:
We have had a fun week. Christina had her first and hopefully last ear infection. She handled it pretty well. The first sign I had was she started hitting the side of her head. I didn't know what that was but then she progressed into trying to pull her ears off. She would grab hold and yank. I guess she wanted to get rid of the problemed area. She is doing much better now.
We have a new dishwasher unloader and boy are the kids excited.
Christina's favorite place to be. It will be a sad day when she hits 25lbs and can't be in this anymore.
